myDate has the following format ex. 2013/04/22 03:34
I want to use this pattern
var m = myDate.match(/^\d{4}-\d\d-\d\d (\d\d):(\d\d)$/),
hour = +m[1],
min = +m[2];
But before I can use this pattern
I need to change the - to / because the pattern works for format like
format ex. 2013-04-22 03:34
My first attempt is to replace the - with / but when I do so
I get green underline and invalid character
var m = myDate.match(/^\d{4}/\d\d/\d\d (\d\d):(\d\d)$/),
hour = +m[1],
min = +m[2];
My second attempt is to use escape character.
So I add the escape character \ immediately before character / but when I do
so
I get runtime error
var m = myDate.match(/^\d{4}\/\d\d\/\d\d (\d\d):(\d\d)$/),
hour = +m[1],
min = +m[2];
So how should I write to replace - with / in the pattern

Can you describe the runtime error you see, and the environment? This
code works fine for me:
var myDate = "2013/04/22 03:34";
var m = myDate.match(/^\d{4}\/\d\d\/\d\d (\d\d):(\d\d)$/),
hour = +m[1],
min = +m[2];
and sets `hour` to 3 and `min` to 34. I only tested in Chrome's
console, but at a casual glance I can't see any reason it shouldn't
work in other environments.

JavaScript[0] regex is *not* pcre, and brackets or braces "(" and ")" to
capture subsets of the re is not supported.
See http://www.sined.co.uk/tmp/jsregex.htm for a possible solution.
[0] Before you even start on the fact I said "JavaScript", just fuck off
now pointy thing!

Correct.

Wrong again.

No, don't.

I don't know where you got this idea. See, for instance,

Perhaps referring to the relevant production would be more convincing:
,<http://ecma-international.org/ecma-262/5.1/#sec-15.10.2.8>
