Dear JavaScripters:
The JavaScript IQ test
http://www.infoworld.com/d/application-development/the-javascript-iq-test-191020
A commenter and I caught one error in it. Another commenter
pointed out an edge case for another question. I found another edge
case myself.
What do you think of this test?
Sincerely,
Gene Wirchenko

Most of the questions are either ambigious "If you have two functions with the same name in the file" (Declarations? Expressions?) or completely superfluous. "Which has never been a name of JavaScript" Gregor

Seconded.
Almost all of the questions are ambiguous, and contain several correct
answers, or none. Sometimes even the questions themselves are wrong.
<spoiler>
8. Using a variable without declaring it with a "var" command:
a) Creates a local variable in the block
b) Creates an array
c) Generates an error
d) Creates a global variable
Correct answer: a
Explanation: The variables are defined in the local block, not the
global space.
</spoiler>
This is truly horrible. At a quick count, only 7 questions out of 20 are
actually usable.
I hope nobody is foolish enough to use this test for recruiting...

My JavaScript IQ turned out to be: You got 5 of 20 correct. Your score: 25% Mentifex (Arthur) -- http://www.scn.org/~mentifex/AiMind.html http://cyborg.blogspot.com/2009/08/javascript.html http://www.amazon.com/The-Art-Meme-ebook/dp/B007ZI66FS/ http://bookstore.iuniverse.com/Products/SKU-000540906/AI4U.aspx

Did you answer the questions yourself, or did you let your AI solve them? The former would indicate that you got some of the seven "good" questions wrong (in addition to ALL of the ambiguous ones); the latter would be consistent with the results I've seen in previous interactions with your "AI". - stefan (PS: Yes, I'm aware of who I'm talking to)
