I use this script to open a set of windows I use more than daily.

var navOpenInBackgroundTab = 0x1000;
var oIE = new ActiveXObject("InternetExplorer.Application");
oIE.Navigate2("http://www.bom.gov.au/nsw/forecasts/griffith.shtml");
oIE.Navigate2("http://data.theweather.com.au/access/imageserver.jsp?image=satellite/twc_sat_syn_aus.jpg",
navOpenInBackgroundTab);
oIE.Navigate2("http://www.weatherzone.com.au/nsw/riverina/griffith?custom",
navOpenInBackgroundTab);
oIE.Navigate2("http://www.weatherzone.com.au/radar.jsp?lt=radar&lc=055",
navOpenInBackgroundTab);
oIE.Navigate2("http://www.weatherzone.com.au/satellite.jsp?lt=wzstate&lc=nsw",
navOpenInBackgroundTab);
oIE.Navigate2("http://www.bom.gov.au/products/IDN60801/IDN60801.95704.shtml",
navOpenInBackgroundTab);
oIE.Navigate2("http://www.bom.gov.au/cgi-bin/silo/rain_maps.cgi?map=contours&variable=totals&area=aus&period=daily&region=aus&time=latest",
navOpenInBackgroundTab);
oIE.Navigate2("http://www.abc.net.au/news/justin/", navOpenInBackgroundTab);
oIE.Visible = true;

Works fine, but I need to be able to specify the zoom % because they have a
variety
of zoom levels that work best for each tab, mostly 160, 180 and 200 for
various tabs.

How do I do that instead of setting that manually once they are all open ?

that gives me your next url (the jpeg image)

Could you give me an url for the same representation over NW
Mediterranean sea ?

What code is in the shtml file ?

I don't see that image would need to be zoomed ...

too much informations !
I like the presentation of "Griffith 7-day Weather Forecast"

Isn't it a specific behavior for Internet Explorer, and only Internet
Explorer alone ???

Fraid not. The one I use is done by the govt meteorological operation in
this country.

I don't know what the story is with the Med.

> What code is in the shtml file ?

Dunno, haven't even looked. It does have a few pictures that are
just background into, nothing to do with the current forecast etc.

>> oIE.Navigate2("http://data.theweather.com.au/access/imageserver.jsp?image=satellite/twc_sat_syn_aus.jpg",

I run most pages at 200% just because I show them on 24" screens and
that gives the most readable text size, particularly with pages like
wikipedia
that wrap properly so that you don't need to scroll horizontally at all.

I run that particular one at 160% so the pic just fits vertically on my
screens.

>> oIE.Navigate2("http://www.weatherzone.com.au/nsw/riverina/griffith?custom",
>> navOpenInBackgroundTab);

> too much informations !

It is handy for the rainfall predictions for the next 7 days and is handy
when a particular weather event is going thru and you want to see how
unusual it is historically. That's the main page that is the main source for
those that don't show the radar and cloud photos on separate tabs etc.

> I like the presentation of "Griffith 7-day Weather Forecast"

Sure, but it doesn't show the prediction of the rain in the 5% of < 1mm
and 90% of 20-40 mm format. That's much more useful than the first one
when looking at what is predicted to happen over the next week. The
first one is better for the daily temps, but not for the rainfall
prediction.

That's why I have both on separate tabs.

>> How do I do that instead of setting that manually once they are all open

> Isn't it a specific behavior for Internet Explorer, and only Internet

All the other commonly used browsers do have some zoom capability.
Yes it may be the only one that specifys it in the script the same way.

> Hop! <http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa752094%28VS.85%29.aspx>

Yeah, that's where I got the script from, but there is no zoom specifiable.
It just opens
the tabs with the last used zoom factor, like a manual new tab or window
does.

You only can have a look if that page is your's
A shtml file has server side code (SSI) for at least a part of it.
Maybe it is possible there to choice the size of the image ?

I use a 27" at 50cm from my eyes and no zoom needed ;-)

I hate long lines ==> never I have a window in full screen.

20/40mm a day ? per hour ?

Ha ? Too bad  :-/

Not tested, stg like :

newTab =
oIE.Navigate2("http://www.bom.gov.au/nsw/forecasts/griffith.shtml");
newTab.onload = function() { newTab.document.body.style.width = '200%';}

I doubt it because they would provide some way to change that if there was.

>> I run most pages at 200% just because I show them on 24" screens

I don't like the price of those for such a small increase in screen
real estate, I prefer to have multiple 24" screens instead and
end up with a lot more screen area for the same price.

> at 50cm from my eyes

I don't like using screens like that. MUCH too far for the eyes to move IMO.

> and no zoom needed ;-)

Don't agree with that either with the 4 screens with just a pic on
them that I prefer to fill the screen and so need to zoom those.

>> and that gives the most readable text size,
>> particularly with pages like wikipedia

> That is not an image as seem above

Sure, but that's why I have the default zoom as 200% on the other screens
that make up a hell of a lot more than the 6 screens that are loaded by that
particular script. I have a vastly more other screens that I also have open
all the time. Those other ones don't need anything other than the 200%

>> that wrap properly so that you don't need to scroll horizontally at all.

Likely because you have the screen so close to your face.

I only have a few that arent.

Its got nothing to do with a desert, almost everywhere
does have the chance of rain vary from day to day.

I wouldn't live in a place that doesn't personally.

>> and 90% of 20-40 mm format.

Yep.

Sometimes. We just had 100mm in about 10 hours, but that's unusual.

not only,
what can be the screen, lines no longer than 70 to 80 characters,
sankyoo
(if not I'm lost and don't find he next line)

I meant, all what of interest is : will it rain ?
(will I have to water my tomatoes)

I never have a problem with fining the next line, but then
my screens are almost an arms length from my face.

I compute from a deep armchair with my feet up
and have been doing that for 40 years now.

> I meant, all what of interest is : will it rain ?

I walk for exercise and prefer not to walk in the rain.

I line dry my clothes when washing and only wash
when I have a full washing machine load of dirty
clothes so it makes sense to wash when there is
no chance of rain.

> (will I have to water my tomatoes)

I water them even when it does rain unless its very heavy rain.

In fact I care rather more about the chance of rain than what
the max and min temps will be in the next week, day by day.

I also care about what the humidity etc will be too.

We had our own rainmaking trials here at that time and rather later too.

We don’t do any rainmaking anymore tho.

We used a Fokker F27 from memory.

Ours was mostly over the SE corner of Australia where most of

I worked for the CSIRO, our main govt scientific research
organisation, over one summer in the second half of the
60s camped out in an abandoned old house in the
Snowy Mountains, just me and one other person most
of the time, while I was still in uni.
