----------------------------------------------------------------------- FAQ Topic - How do I protect my javascript code? ----------------------------------------------------------------------- With clientside javascript you can't as your code is distributed in source form and is easily readable. With JScript, there is the Script Encoder (see MSDN), but this is nothing more than obfuscation. Attempting to disable the context menu does nothing to protect your script in a Web browser. Your code is likely protected under copyright laws. See: <URL: http://www.wipo.int/about-ip/en/copyright.html> <URL: http://webdesign.about.com/od/copyright/Copyright_Issues_on_the_Web_Intellectual_Property.htm> The complete comp.lang.javascript FAQ is at http://jibbering.com/faq/ -- The sendings of these daily posts are proficiently hosted by http://www.pair.com.

I thought that, once upon a time when I requested some Algol source. Alas, although the reserved words were the same, the identifiers and the comment were in (IIRC) Hungarian. The compiler understood it, but I did not. -- (c) John Stockton, nr London, UK. Mail via homepage. Turnpike v6.05 MIME. The FAQ needs to make a more general statement, and not imply that Microsoft Script Encoder is the only option. Also note that according to: http://www.yuiblog.com/blog/2012/10/16/state-of-yui-compressor/ the Yui Compressor has been deprecated. -- Regards, Martin Leese E-mail: please@see.Web.for.e-mail.INVALID Web: http://members.tripod.com/martin_leese/

Compacting, compressing, or obfuscating code does _not_ protect the code from being reused; it can be uncompacted, uncompressed, or unobfuscated on the client-side at any time. -- PointedEars Twitter: @PointedEars2 Please do not Cc: me. / Bitte keine Kopien per E-Mail.
