#22125 — End of daily FAQ-postings

Hello,

The daily FAQ-postings have been discontinued since
this morning, upon request of some of the regulars
of this group. I'm sorry I didn't pick up that message
earlier; I'm not so intensely following this group
anymore.

A word of thanks to Pair Networks, who allowed me to
proficiently host the Perl scripts during 2006-2013.
Also thanks to SunSite.dk for the free Usenet service.

Why not reduce them to weekly or some such?

I do not usually follow-up to, much less read, postings from address
mungers [1], particularly not when they are posting via the current version
of Google Groups [2], but in this case:

Thank you.

The question is now: how to proceed? Are any FAQ postings wanted anymore?

If yes, I could adapt my XSL stylesheet to generate appropriate plain-text
output from the “FAQ for comp.lang.javascript” and set up an auto-poster.
I would appreciate it then if I could use, and perhaps improve on, your
code.

And if FAQ postings are wanted here, what format and schedule would be
considered appropriate?

( ) Weekly posting of the entire FAQ
( ) Daily posting of randomly selected FAQ entries

The script for the daily automated FAQ postings was released to the public domain:

https://groups.google.com/d/msg/comp.lang.javascript/EpiZajjkneM/1mPDoV8yNssJ

This can perfectly be weekly as well like Hans-Georg suggests, it depends on the crontab that executes the .pl. Personally I find small frequent content units more digestible than one giant post of the entire FAQ. The sendout is not random but kept in a counter file.

As before, but only once per week.
