#10905 — access denied sometimes

FromAndrew Poulos <ap_prog@hotmail.com>

Subjectaccess denied sometimes
Message-ID<P_Kdnbc8noAMCLXSnZ2dnUVZ_tydnZ2d@westnet.com.au>
When a page with
   window.top.resizeTo(640, 480);
off my local hard drive IE sometimes complains and says that access is
denied. If I close the page and try again IE usually opens the page with
no error.

Its not a big deal its that I have no idea why.

I do not know if this is related, but...

I use Dreamweaver. Commonly, I will save then test a page. I
was getting problems with the page not loading. Like you, it was only
sometimes, and a retry would work.

I think that it was me being too fast with <Ctrl-S> then <F12>
with the result that IE was coming up and trying to access the page
while it was still being saved. (The page in question is several
hundred lines long.) Since this did not always happen, it may have
been that some other disk access was happening at the same time and
the contention slowed the save just enough to cause the problem.

Slow up a bit, and see if that handles the problem. Since I have
slowed up (about a second does it for me), I do not get the problem.

Sincerely,

Gene Wirchenko

Details, please. For example, why window.*top*.resizeTo(…)? Are frames
involved?

Its the front page of an elearning course and it doesn't include any
frames. The reason for 'top' is that some users have been known to embed
the page in a frame.

The window.top.resize is the "first" js thing that's called.

There's not much more to say.

I double-click the page to launch it and I get the error. I close the
browser and double-click the page again and it opens without error.

Then there is nothing more to say on my part either as my crystal ball is
currently frozen (at −9°C).

How descriptive, after an absurdly long quotation.
