Would it be possible to run ecmascript on an older computer 8086, 286, 386 processor, and are there implementations with disk read write functionality?

The closest thing off the top of my head is WSH for windows 95:
<https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Windows_Script_Host>

I've seen a couple JavaScript to C++ compilers, but I can't vouch for the quality of them. (js2cpp, and another whose name I forget)

JFTR: Windows 95 requires IA-32, i.e. the Intel 80386 or compatibles.

Hello Thomas i am not sure i get this right is spidermonkey the engine used in Firefox?

And when i run a script using spidermonkey in Firefox it port it to bytecode that runs in another engine Ionmonkey?

It seem that running Ecmascript/Javascript from dos out of question, but if i want to compile code for newer hardware would it support things like frames and canvas? Or just the basic datastructures and functions?

Could a compiler like Closure do that?
I read it make optimizations of code, is there engines that can optimize scripts without compiling? ("My knowledge of the language is very shallow")

I would recommend searching for popular MS-DOS compilers and JavaScript.
http://www.delorie.com/djgpp/dl/elsewhere.html for instance lists some
"JavaScript for DJGPP" implementation, but the link is broken and there
seems to be nothing in the Internet Archive. It is entirely possible to
make a very standards-compliant implementation in C that compiles for
arbitraty targets, with some limitations.

Both Mozilla SpiderMonkey (in C, C++) and Google V8 (in C++) should
(cross-)compile for Linux on IA-32, i.e. Intel 80386 and compatible
architectures. (Windows XP and later does not run there.) However, I do
not think that alone gives you disk I/O, too (AFAIK, XPConnect is part of
the Gecko DOM API instead).

I agree that an ECMAScript implementation for Intel 80286 and earlier will
have to be hand-crafted, perhaps based on that code, as there are 16-bit
versions of Netscape Navigator 2.0 (which introduced JavaScript 1.0) in the
evolt.org archive, but the SpiderMonkey source code was essentially
rewritten when it went open source, and you would need Java and LiveConnect
for disk I/O unless you write it yourself.

<http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/V8_(JavaScript_engine)> pp.

See tiny-js (https://code.google.com/p/tiny-js/). Not a complete implementation but you could get surprised.

You might be able to get it to compile with TC++, BC++ or the like, with some work.
