No, one considers him a (rude) fusspot because this point is trivially
unimportant.

ACK. However, it is *not* *just* a matter of letter case, as I have
emphasized in the “Foreword and Rationale” section of the ECMAScript Support
Matrix [1] (updated 2013-02-16). That will become more apparent later.

It is not a good strategy to attempt to refute fallacies with another
fallacy. That ECMAScript as a programming language is case-sensitive has
nothing to do with “javascript” and “Javascript” being misleading terms.

That resource is no longer maintained since more than two years, and it is
frequently offline.

I am working on that.

I fail to see how so basic an issue as the terminology for these languages,
and the FAQ of/for this newsgroup, can be off-topic here. See the new
Subject also for an example how a proper change of Subject is done on Usenet
(speakers of German may refer to the “Netiquette für "de.*"”, item 7). TIA.

Do you prefer having a daily post of at least partially outdated
information in this NG?

There was a long discussion about the new maintainer of the FAQ not long
ago, and unfortunately there was no consent. And currently it seems
only Thomas still cares actively about this issue. I have no doubt,
that he's capable to bring the FAQ up to date and to improve it.

One might conclude then, that it's a waste of time. Unfortunately Thomas
will, having worked on it, then refer to it as "the FAQ", as though it
has some official status to support his foolish opinions.

No, I am just saying that it is highly unlikely that your work is related to
the topic of this newsgroup, while mine definitely is. Insofar it might be
a wiser course of action for you not to discount my opinions on this matter
as quickly and as impolitely as you did.

No, that's *not* what you said, and you are now wriggling.

Not that it matters, other than to confirm my opinion. In 40 years in
the workplace, asking about others' qualifications was very rare.

Actio = reactio. Calling others’ opinions “foolish”, without backing up
*your* humble opinion, got you that.

There is an important difference. Tim went to a world-renowned
university, one where (if necessary) one also can learn civilised
behaviour. You, I believe, were at a jumped-up polytechnic in an
insignificant town - and evidently did not.

Tim's place, according to THE et al, is well above the best University
in a German-speaking country (FIT Zurich), which is above Lausanne Poly
(French speaking?). The best in Germany is LMU Munich, near the bottom
of the THE Top 50 and below the best in Sweden or even Scotland. But
the top end of that list is not entirely reliable.

Wow, I never realised simply attending at an institution means you
understand a particular topic better than anyone else in the world
(except for others who attend the same institution).

Its funny, you disapprove of PE's behaviour yet your responses to his
posts always seem to border on the vulgar and/or repulsive.

PE stated a fact while JRS stated some BS that, basically, the quality
of person's technical understanding is directly related to the "rating"
of the institution attended.

I very much doubt it. Thomas behaves as though taught by the proverbial
martinet of a German Professor. He would have failed if he didn't write
