#21914 — JavaScript - Disabling Security Check?

I'm having a bit of a problem with the latest update of Java (Version
7, Update 45). A number of sites I have been using for years are
giving me security warnings each time I access them since the last
update of Java. In a couple of cases, I cannot run the website since
this latest update of Java a few days ago. In the past, everything
worked just fine.

I'm running IEv10 on a Win7 64bit desktop system.

What do I have to do in Java to shut off the security check and see if
it solves my problems.

Thanks for any insights/suggestions!

You are in the wrong group (Java != JavasSript). I think
comp.lang.java.help and comp.lang.java.programmer are still active.

However, this OP is a *user*; they are having a problem with the Java plugin
in a browser. They are not interested in Java, the programming language,
which is on-topic in comp.lang.ALL.

So they are looking for a newsgroup on their browser instead. Those can be
found in comp.infosystems.www.browsers.ALL, for example.

Thanks for the reply - and outline of my intent. But, what newsgroup
(exact) should I go to for help with my issue? I see the one in my
newsgroup listed as "comp.infosystems.www.browsers.misc", is that the
one I should try??

Thanks for any insights and for your support!

Your newsreader has the capability to filter the newsgroup list of your
server; I suggest you use it and pick the newsgroup that is most specific to
your problem; in this case, your browser. Never post in a .misc group if
there is a more specific newsgroup.

Getting a name, and not abusing other's (in this case, GMX's) namespaces,
would help you getting answers there (and here, if on-topic).

I don't see why comp.lang.java.help is not suitable. The charter says
it is suitable "for immediate help on any Java problem" and, in
particular, "for end-users, programmers and administrators who are
having difficulty installing a system capable of running Java applets or
programs." The description line is "Set-up problems, catch-all first
aid".

Thomas is right that the c.l.j.programmer group is wrong, but c.l.j.help
might be helpful. At any rate, I don't think your question would be
wrong there. The more system-specific group
comp.infosystems.www.browsers.ms-windows group be better, but it seems
to be effectively dead. Maybe your post will revive it!
