Hello friends,

any one could help me

var url = "http://www.youtube.com/";
var xmlhttp = new XMLHttpRequest();

xmlhttp.open("GET", url);
xmlhttp.setRequestHeader("User-Agent",navigator.userAgent);
 // subscribe to this event before you send your request.
 xmlhttp.onreadystatechange=function() {
  alert(xmlhttp.status);
  if (xmlhttp.readyState==4 ) {
   //alert the user that a response now exists in the responseTest property.
   alert(xmlhttp.responseText);

   // And to view in firebug
   console.log('xhr',xmlhttp)
  }
 }
xmlhttp.send()

| Refused to set unsafe header "User-Agent"

You should be using console.log() here as well, because alert() blocks
execution.

The fact that you are only seeing this one time, and that it displays 0
means that the readyState never changes from 0 to 1. IOW, the request is
not even made.

See above. And keep your posted lines to 78 characters at maximum (to allow
for one quotation level; less for more). The source code alternative (that
I recommmend) is to use *multi-line* comments for documentation and write
semicolons *always*. That way code will continue to work even if wrapped.

Not using the borken and spammed Google Groups Web interface is helping with
that.

| XMLHttpRequest cannot load http://www.youtube.com/. Origin
| […] is not allowed by Access-Control-Allow-Origin.

Check http://winhlp.com/node/684 for fully functional Ajax

from the code above, I don't see anything wrong, it'd be nicer if we could look at the working page so we could probe the actual code.

I think he's violating cross-domain policy.

Yeah. Possibly making a request from local file protocol (not a domain).

That's why Thomas mentioned about Access-Control-Allow-Origin. For that resource to be loaded by any different origin domain that page, youtube.com would need to respond with

 Access-Control-Allow-Origin: *
