I wonder if any of you has tried the [Explore People] feature of about.me site, this feature is quite interesting and I wonder what technology is being used to allow such a cool way to browser people's profile... CSS with javascript or CSS with js library such as jQuery? or ? View source code does not immediately offers a quick answer...

Thanks as usual.

I am sorry, justaguy, your postings get strangerder and strangerder.

This NG is not about getting a quick answer by having others investigate
for you what technology is used in a thirt party website.

If you want to do reverse engeneering, please do, and if there is an
interesting javascript solution, feel free to chare that with us.

Otherwise please piss off.

View source shows:
* CSS? yes
* JS? yes
* jQuery? yes

From what I hear, it works like this: if you want cool features, keep
adding jQuery plugins until the desired level of coolness is achieved.

For the site in question, the number of required plugins appears to be
around 40. But not to worry, it only takes 33 separate requests to load
all the scripts. (or 12 when using Ghostery and ABP)

Not for the entire site but just for the "Explore People" feature, what are the jQuery plugins being used if you know?

Thanks in advance.

It is presumptuous and a trifle imperious to give thanks in advance.

I usually am pleased to be thanked for something not even given,
as it means that such guy must be a happy person,
happy with infinitesimal small gifts,
and that makes me happy too.

If a guy presumptuously and a trifle imperiously
would want to make an ass or ars of her or himself,
I am not bothered by that per se.

Just theoretically, not in actual tested code,
as a Javascript script could be a creation of beauty.

if (not) not(quite) else something(indeed);

Strong words from someone who decided, in violation of network standards and
etiquette, to load his spam problems onto others.

I think thanking someone in advance is a courteous instead, showing that you
value the time they would invest if they care to invest it. Of course, it
also matters from whom it is coming.

I disagree for 2 reasons:

1) The obvious presumption that what is being asked for will be given,
despite the fact that the requestor did not say implicitely "If it
pleases you" as required by couteous rules of interaction.

2) By giving the "Thanks" in advance, the requestor attempts to absolve
himself of the responsability of saying "Thanks" afterwards, when it
will be deserved. In other words, the requestor is saying "I'm so
important, I can't waste any of my my time afterwards to thank you as I
should; just take my Thanks up front and be glad you're getting it."

Figuring that out is left as an exercise for the student, he has after
all been given the tools for the job. (hint: wget is all you need!)

If only you knew what you are talking about.

While it is true that the student has been given all the (hints as to) tools
for the job, wget is not needed, probably not overly helpful (thanks to the
register and login requirement at that site), and certainly not all that one
needs, in this case and similar cases that are on-topic here.
