It also causes trouble when someone is learning the language.
Consistency is very very useful.
I shot myself in the foot with some very silly errors in my early
JavaScript days. Some of these were not caught very well by
JavaScript or by me. (I once used Visual FoxPro line comments in a
section of code and could not figure why the code was not working. VFP
uses "&&" like JavaScript uses "//". Egg, meet face.)
