In javascript the following:

document.body.style.cursor = "wait";

might, under some conditions, at certain phases of the moon[1], when the 
wind is in the appropriate direction[2], have something approaching the 
desired effect.

I think:

document.body.style.cursor = "";

sets it back to the default.[3]

[1] No I don't know which ones.
[2] See [1]
[3] Could be wrong on this, in which case I have no idea how to reset it, 
but if I am wrong I'm sure someone will be along shortly with details.
