What you have to do to make @Regex work to validate your regex
strings?

eg.

private static final Pattern INTERFACE_GRABBER =  Pattern.compile(
"(public)?\\s*"
 + "(abstract)?\\s*"
 + "interface\\s*\\(" );

Do you need some sort of import.

I am using JDK 1.8.0_05 with 1.8 targets.

Sun's documentation at
https://blogs.oracle.com/java-platform-group/entry/java_8_s_new_type

lacks a complete example.

I tried adding an import org.checkerframework.checker.regex.qual;

Maybe have a look at "The Checker Framework Manual".
