What's the best way to link an SSCCE to a thread? I wrote one but probably shouldn't paste the test class inline, it's 500+ lines so far..

First: I am highly skeptical about a SSCCE needing to be 500+ lines. Either it is am extremely complex problem or you have just taken the real code as is without removing all the fluff so only the necessary is left. So please check if you can reduce the example in size. If that is not possible then you can either just post the 500 lines or upload it to some internet service and post a link here. Arne

One interesting point is that when going through the size reduction process then one is often able to solve the problem oneself, because it suddenly becomes obvious what the problem is. Arne

My problem here is how to get the row selection model. I combined 2 tables to make a fixed row table. The bottom one is scrollable, the top one is not. Now I need the 2 tables to share, so if we set single row selection mode you can only select one row between the 2 of them, and if the top table has 2 rows and we call setSelectedRow(2) it should select the first row of the second table... https://pastebin.com/zrUESqc4

It's just that I made a custom table which is an extension of JTable, and when I tried to freeze rows the only solution that came up was to embed a second JTable. Then I tried to override methods like getRowCount() to include both tables which cascaded into trouble, seems like more trouble than it's worth to make that work properly, so I just need custom method names for any JTable methods I need to "override" which need to refer to both tables. I just thought that would be confusing, to have the JTable methods like getSelectedRows() referencing only the dynamic table and have to call custom methods (getAllSelectedRows()? getSelectedViewRows()?) to pull indexes from both tables as if they're one table.

If you google "pastebin", you will find many sites that allow you to post code (most even allow you to specify it to get deleted after a month or so). Usually those sites sport features like syntax highlighting for popular languages (which Java of course is), and some[1] even run your code for you (but not in this case, nothing online runs Swing stuff).
