So use nothing but struts tags? No mixing? I keep getting unwanted tags.

I think it is just that I need to learn what to expect from Struts. For example you need to know that a struts-form will auto-generate a table and a struts-submit will auto- generate a table fragment. If you try to mix another table into the same form Struts doesn't know what to do with it and you end up with non-validating HTML.

In my experience then all healthy mixes of taglib tags and HTML tags work fine. Obviously "healthy" is a rather imprecise term in this context. But let us define: healthy = (JSP page is in XML format and is well formed XML) or (JSP page is in traditional format but converted to XML format it would be well formed XML) But if you provide a specific example it would be a lot easier to determine what the problem is.
