Could you perhaps stop spamming the comp.lang.java.programmer group with your spam, please?

Spammers don't read responses to their SPAM. In fact, they seldom even
read the newsgroups they are spamming.

Best is to report them to their newsserver host - in this case, it's
eternal-september.org. Enough complaints and they will block his
account (not that it will help - he can always get another one with a
different news host).

He's in my killfile[1]. I don't see him, but I do see anybody else
telling him he's a spammer. Please just ignore him

[1] if you want a killfile of your own but are reading this through
Google Groups, switch to using a newsreader. Thunderbird and Forte Agent
(Windows) both have good killfile management. So does Pan (Linux).

Killfiling him may make you feel good. But it does nothing to
discourage spammers.

... but nothing discourages them, especially if they don't read the NGs
they spam.

Reporting them to their ISP often has a detrimental effect on their
account, especially if their ISP gets enough reports from different people.

And even calling them a spammer in the newsgroup has its advantages; for
instance, searches will get their messages - plus the SPAM comments.
And most people don't like to deal with SPAMMERs.

So while it may not discourage them, it can have a detrimental effect on
their ability to post to usenet and their business.

In that case your news client is deficient. A better one, including
your recommended Forte Agent, gives using your current choice to mark
the post as "read" plus the choice of killing _all_ follow up posts.

Thats useful to know: IIRC Agent didn't have that ability last time I
used it in anger.

Agent was my preferred newsreader while I still used Windows, but I
haven't used it since switching to Linux over ten years ago. apart from
firing up an older version to see it would run under Wine (it did).
However, by then I'd got used to Pan which is what I currently use:
version 0.140 does almost everything I need.
