It's been moved to comp.lang.java.nostalgia.glorydays

Anyone who gives a crap can crack a beer and talk about how Spring,
JavaFX, and ORM Frameworks rock!

PS. When posting you are asked not to discuss the outside world.

LOL. Nobody could really mess up a GUI like Sun. Anyone who created
commercial products using AWT and Swing is feeling a bit of PTSD reading
this. Now Java is owned by Oracle, whose business model is to make
products so complicated that you must buy Oracle support.

How are those applets of yours coming along Richard?

P.S. When posting you are asked not to be an obnoxious tool.

Doing very well despite Oracle thank-you.

But your smirking highlights one of the greatest mistakes the Java
community ever made and that is to give up Java's ubiquity on the
client. How proud you must be :-(

Java still has so much to offer any hosted Web App yet no one cares to
leverage the functionality only Java can provide.

Am I correct in thinking it is the only smartphone/browser with Java
plugin support?

Charming. Well that was worth waiting a week for. No quite scintillating
repartee but at least you let everyone know you're still there.

Stop grave-dodging and just bugger off!

Does it actually support Java and Java applets?

I know that Ubuntu/x86 does but does Ubuntu/ARM?

Arne

To be honest not sure. When the original crowd-funding was up I remember
being all excited about the prospect, and being able to google more details.

This early version looks to be a bit trimmed down so not sure.

Please buy one and let me know :-)

You know the most amusing part of your reply was to hijack the name of the
thread to a device which has even less potential not to die a slow and
painful death than the out-dated, completely useless, annoying, slow and now
almost completely unsupported technology that your "genius" brain is telling
you to cling on to you. Well, good luck with that...

Can you please highlight my smirking? It was a perfectly innocent question
and I was actually quite hoping you would answer without the usual insults
and guff that come back with but clearly I had let my guard down a bit
there. But again, please highlight the smirking.

> Java still has so much to offer any hosted Web App yet no one cares to
> leverage the functionality only Java can provide.

Well that is utter bullshit on 2 levels. The first claim is patently
ridiculous and has been for at least 5-10 years and there is at least one
idiot left who "cares to leverage" that imagined "functionality that only
Java can provide" and we all know who that is.

> Am I correct in thinking it is the only smartphone/browser with Java
> plugin support?

Well, you are wrong about most things but let's just say that this is the
first time you actually got something right, shouldn't that be telling you
something? Like WHY THE HELL ARE YOU HAVING ANYTHING TO DO WITH THE JAVA
PLUGIN? STILL???

>> PS. When posting you are asked not to discuss the outside world.

By you? Are you the moderator now? I am sure in your "mind" you think you
are.

>> P.S. When posting you are asked not to be an obnoxious tool.
>
> Charming. Well that was worth waiting a week for. No quite scintillating
> repartee but at least you let everyone know you're still there.

Well this is one of the things that people do ask posters not to do: be an
obnoxious tool. You must have missed that part at moderator school. And
yes, I am still "there" (or here) but only to amuse myself every time you
make a post where you are *still* trying to get applets to work and
complaining that they only don't work because the entire world is against
you. It's really quite entertaining stuff although rather sad and pathetic
at the same time.

> Stop grave-dodging and just bugger off!

Ah, now I know for sure it's the "real" Richard and not just an imposter.
