#27846 — HTTP transport error: java.net.UnknownHostException:

SubjectHTTP transport error: java.net.UnknownHostException:

Even since I switched over to Java 1.8.0 I have been getting a lot of
HTTP transport error: java.net.UnknownHostException:
The odd thing is I can probe the site fine for other pages, then
after this error it is able to probe again without error.

It literally sounds like the site disappears for a short time.
Any hints on the problem?

Be prepared with a more specific description.

Various programs that were working fine under 1.7 are now getting
large numbers of sporadic UnknownHostExceptions under 1.8.

All I am doing is a GET to a series of pages from some online store to
check availability.

I tried that. It is half way through and no exceptions. Thanks.

Always good when magic incantations work.
Avoids a lot of worrisome having to understand.
