But when you look at all the javax.* APIs, it's pretty clear that there's a lot of stuff that no Java app can do without using libraries that implement Java EE specs. Not just servlets/JSPs either, obviously. I get the impression that way back in the day some Sun people decided that Internet APIs == enterprise. And the marketing folks wanted branding. I really don't see the sense of a lot of these distinctions. AHS -- When a true genius appears, you can know him by this sign: that all the dunces are in a confederacy against him. -- Jonathan Swift

I wouldn't say that the difference between J2SE and J2EE is that the latter costs a lot. Rather, there is a different purpose for using either. On learning Java & J2EE (or any JVM language), there are many many online tutorials, free or inexpensive, their are many groups coming together to learn and share skills on these topics, there are discussion groups like these, conferences... A good place for SkillsCasts (code, slides and film footage) of talks on more advanced technology topics and J2EE is http://skillsmatter.com/go/java-jee (middle column, bottom half of page)... w On Tuesday, 20 August 2013 23:47:21 UTC+1, bob smith wrote: > I see a lot of jobs for J2EE programmers. > > > > Isn't J2SE the free Java whereas J2EE costs a lot? > > > > How do people learn J2EE without paying a lot of money?
