#35083 — Dropping files on a Swing application

SubjectDropping files on a Swing application
Message-ID<878twt4xgj.fsf@Equus.decebal.nl>
I have started with a simple Swing application. In this I select a
picture file JFileChooser. It works, but because there are more as
1.000 photos it is a little bothersome to select the correct photo.
With Gwenview I can see minatures of the photos. Would it be possible
to select a photo in Gwenview and drop it on my application? That
would make live much easier.

Of-course I would prefer a system independent way, so if someone would
use my application on Windows it works also.

Usenet is a medium well-suited for "targeted" questions, but it
is not a good means for wholesale instruction in large bodies of data.
Your present question is covered in the on-line Java Tutorial, as are
many of the others (perhaps *all* of the others) you have raised in
this thread. I encourage you to take advantage of it. The Swing
part starts at

	http://docs.oracle.com/javase/tutorial/uiswing/index.html

... where you will find links that may interest you, like "Drag and
Drop and Data Transfer," "Laying Out Components Within a Container,"
"Concurrency in Swing," and "Custom Painting," among others.

     Stop floundering, and RTFT.
