What could be the reasons why my application only runs fast on one server out of 40?

The good server has jre7 and jdk1.7.0_55 on it. Most of the other servers have only jre7 on it. Some servers have neither of these on it.

Curious,

Does this mean, that your program is not itself a Java
application, or that you have older or newer versions
of Java on those "some" servers?

What kind of application is it? (web-stuff,db-processing,
number-crunching,file-processing,graphics,...,more-of-that)

My program is a java application. I can't find java on those "some" servers.

The application is used to explicitly send data to other servers.

Well, breaking with a file not found error is always faster than
executing a program. Your program just did not start at all on these
servers.

try running Wassup http://mindprod.com/applet/wassup.html as an
application on your various machines. It will tell you details of the
Java it picks up.
