After trying many things, I downgraded the JDK to 10.0.1,
and Maven works once again.  I think the problem is with
Java's HTTP and/or crypto support changing.  (Maven crashes
in wagon plugin, in the http code.)

Can anyone confirm?  (Or am I the only one trying
Oracle JDK 10.0.2?)

This is on a Windows 7 x64 platform.
