An example showing the specific problem OP has.

Also known as an SSCCE.

The example you found actually do echo both input to output from server.

But that is not surprising given the line:

ftps.addProtocolCommandListener(new PrintCommandListener(new 
PrintWriter(System.out)));

You think that is OP's problem?
