There are multiple Java compilers:

javac
ecj
gcj
jikes

I have never really looked into what they were written in, because
that is irrelevant for java development.

But my guess would be:

javac - Java with compiler driver in C++
ecj - Java
gcj - C/C++
jikes - C/C++
