Nowadays, I shoould say, the accepted standard for microbenchmarking on 
the JVM is JMH. It's part of OpenJDK:

http://openjdk.java.net/projects/code-tools/jmh/

And it will become part of the standard, see JEP 230:

http://openjdk.java.net/jeps/230

It's also quite easy to use.
