s/literal/literate/
Both words descend ultimately from the Latin "littera" meaning
"letter," both in the sense of "glyph" and of "epistle." But in
English
- "literal" means "as written in Scripture" or "like whut it sez"
- "literate" means "lettered" as in "able to read and write" or
"educated, cultured"
Java's much easier than English.
Oh, yeah: "liter" means "a little more than a quart" or "a little
less than a quart," depending on whether the Atlantic is to your East
or your West. That's known as "spatial relativity."
