That looks very much like what I was seeing with Knute's HTML trick. It 
thought it looked OK with most names: they are passed to the rostering 
tool as 'Forename SURNAME', but with the letters all upright and the 
fairly wide newline gap added by <br> I'd always thought that the much 
shorter name that rotating normal text through 90 degrees clockwise would 
make the complete screen a bit easier to use. The trigger point was that 
I need to mark any half-days that must not be rostered by putting the 
special name [NA] in them and this looks terrible when rendered as:
