Please suggest me the procedure to follow, any references, things I need to complete this project successfully as I am new to the programming world

For a web based application
Not necessarily in chronological order

1. Install Java
2. Download, install and configure a Servlet container and get it running
3. Install a development environment (optional) I like Eclipse.
4. Install a build tool, I use Ant, others think you are retarded if you
don't use Maven (optional)
5. Learn Java
6. Learn HTML(5)
7. Learn just enough about J2EE or whatever they call it these days to
write a Servlet, package a war and deploy it.
8. Write a prototype that uses a stub for the mobile stuff, when you
have that working decide on an approach to sending your text message.
You DO NOT need to worry about this at the outset, you are using a
language that allows you to abstract the difficult bits and worry about
them later.
9. Most mobile companies have an email to text gateway, e.g send an
email to 01234567891@somephoneco.co.uk.
10. Deploy application to the live server, congratulate yourself on
getting such a high mark, repair to student bar and get pissed.
