Is the standard event handling mechanism somehow insufficient?
myBeautyousBtn.setOnAction(new EventHandler<ActionEvent>() {
@Override

or
myBeautyousBtn.addEventHandler(MouseEvent.MOUSE_PRESSED,
new EventHandler<MouseEvent>() {

});
