I believe you you need to use a java.net.Authenticator, something like

    // PROXY
    System.setProperty("http.proxyHost","proxy.mydomain.local") ;
    System.setProperty("http.proxyPort", "80") ;
 
    Authenticator.setDefault(new Authenticator() {
      protected PasswordAuthentication getPasswordAuthentication() {
        return new PasswordAuthentication
              ("mydomain\\username","password".toCharArray());
    }});
