Hello rick

Because of the problems I'll make one post here for this - any other questions
please use the forum so as not to OT the the group to death.

Jack was the partner I had up until a few weeks ago. He had to pull out
suddenly because of personal problems. His job was to write the projects x86
code and run the forum. My assembler experience with x86 is very limited.
The idea was I would get on designing my CPU and he would manage the
software side of things.
He did start posting here through my news gateway
He only ever used his real name.
I dont know anything about the other names you list at all.
None of them came from here I can guarantee

As the TIOS project is my creation I have decided to continue with it and
see where it goes. I am funding it all myself. At least for now.

There are 2 reasons there are few posts:
1. You just pointed out the site had a problem - I was unaware of that until the
messages here tonight. Hopefully that's fixed.

2. Jack had not long finished setting up when he had to stop - I kept it in limbo
until he had been to the funeral and decided whether to come back or not.

So it has had little push - and I'm not in favour of the usual trick of paying for
hundreds of people in India to fill it with fake posts. (many forums do this - it
annoys me - ) I don't mind it being slow - TIOS is a long term project with little
to show for some time - and the rest is just icing for anyone to enjoy.
Your comments there about what I'm doing could be very useful to me though -
which is why it exists.

If forth users find the forum useful they are very welcome to use it. I'll
expand it if required.

As things stand I'm limiting access to crawlers and bots for a while but you
should have access now if you use reasonably newish browsers.

More posts are very welcome - please feel free to join and add to the collection
or not - as you wish.

I hope that answers your questions.

I asked about the several names because this thread was started by at
least one of them. You jumped into an existing thread when you properly
should have started a new one. The fact that you jumped into the thread
with very similar content made me think you were connected with the OP.

That's all. No big deal.

Well, you're missing out. The Forth Programming Group on Facebook is very
good. I'm a member of it. The amount of traffic is surprisingly high.
Not everything is directly related to Forth, but all of it is interesting.
For example, there might be a post about a new micro-controller board
coming to the market.

And there's no bitching.

That's ok. I don't do Facebook for very good reasons. I don't expect
anyone will miss me if I'm not there and I know Hugh would miss me if I
stopped posting here.

I like the idea of keeping discussions on topic! This is one of my favorite threads here on comp.lang.forth:
https://groups.google.com/forum/#!topic/comp.lang.forth/92KNs8p4J6Y%5B1-25%5D

The topic here was that an early-binding MACRO: would be better than a late-binding MACRO: --- I nailed that topic by writing an early-binding MACRO: and posting the code --- this is an excellent demonstration of the need for disambiguifiers, as this would be impossible to write in a portable ANS-Forth compliant manner without disambiguifiers.

Not everyone liked my early-binding MACRO: though. It was suggested that a moderation would be needed to prevent code from being posted that is only possible through the use of disambiguifiers --- and that more drastic measures (homicide) could also be used to prevent ANS-Forth code from being posted:
