The Wikipedia entry is necessarily limited, emphasis is post-Moore with no mention of the minimalism which underpins the language.

It has serious organizational problems (topics explained repeatedly with different words and examples), but is not inaccurate. It would probably appeal more to computer science folk than the descriptions I've provided in the past, but that may be a good thing. I would like to see some more application examples, and if I have time in the next few days I may try to add some. Cheers, Elizabeth -- Elizabeth R. Forth and usage are indivisible ;-) And perhaps look at things like this: <quote> Structure of code[edit] In most Forth systems, the body of a code definition consists of either machine language, or some form of threaded code. The original Forth which follows the informal FIG standard (Forth Interest Group), is a TIL (Threaded Interpretive Language). This is also called indirect-threaded code, but direct-threaded and subroutine threaded Forths have also become popular in modern times. The fastest modern Forths use subroutine threading, insert simple words as macros, and perform peephole optimization or other optimizing strategies to make the code smaller and faster.[26] </quote> 1. The original Forth which follows the informal FIG standard (Forth Interest Group), --- Really? 2. This is also called indirect-threaded code, but direct-threaded and subroutine threaded Forths have also become popular in modern times. --- One could say that in 1990(ninenteenhundredandninety) after nearly 10 years of using direct threaded and subroutine/native threaded Forth systems (popular on mainly non-PC systems). In retrospect, this is ancient times, not modern times! There's a link on the Wiki page to such a Forth: GraForth (1982 version). In stead, looking back, we can now (2017) say: rather early the dominance of an implementation strategy was ignored in favor of whatever the worker in the field found appropriate (speed). You get the gist. This can be seen as a very positive event and should be advertised as such. Especially since dpANS started in the 1980ies to mandate and facilitate those systems and user behavior where possible AFAIK. Cheers, -r

I removed all of my Forth code from Wikipedia (the reference to ASSOCIATION.4TH in the LLRB-tree page, for example) on the basis that it was: "original research." You go ahead and post some of your own Forth code though --- you have never posted any Forth code on comp.lang.forth that wasn't copied directly out of the "Starting Forth" book --- but now you say that you are going to post some "application examples" on the Wikipedia page... This should be interesting! Or, at least, entertaining...
