The newline string was defined as char newline = {} inside a block, and GCC 
now made sure that the livetime of this string does not exceed this block, 
so we need to declare it static const (starting with gcc 4.7).  And some gcc 
4.6.x versions (but not all; this is a bug in GCC, which was fixed in 4.7 
and AFAIK also 4.6.2) failed to compile our static superinstructions 
correctly, so we needed to reorder the way we create the C code (which then 
doesn't trigger the bug).
