For printers PC Pro recommends as a consumer 'all-in-one' the Canon 
Pixma MG6250 £119 inc VAT

As an alternative but also an all-in-one, if you don't print too often 
(whatever that means)  the HP Photosmart 5510 £71 inc VAT, "not too dear 
to run".

You're right, standalone printers seem to have gone out of fashion. The 
only one they give is a personal laser
