Chuck Moore has announced he've been working on a new incarnation of Forth, which is actually a decompiler. It looks like a follow-up to the OK experiment. The description of it is partial as we lose audio on the last part of his talk at Forth FIG. Does anyone has more about it?

I was there yesterday and I did jot down a few notes.

As far as watching the road, and not using a map but seeing the territory, this would seem to be the way to go.

[ in my opinion, this approach may not work well for a Megaforth. It would be more appropriate to a Microforth. That would be because when you have a few megabytes of Forth object code, and then you have to update that many addresses when you insert something near the beginning of your program, it would take a long time to update those addresses. Multiply that by hundreds or even thousands of times during the course of the development phase, and it may be pokey. But, I have not tried it. ]

Actually, in comparing my notes with the video, about where it cuts out is where Chuck stops talking about Forth 46.0 Afterwards he talks about the GA144 a little bit. He wants to continue to develop that technology.

Thanks for watching.

Jason

I gather that the microphone batteries died at that point and no-one there
noticed you weren't streaming audio any more.

Although the de-compiler only with an "edit/run" cycle might appeal to some
but there would be difficulty in getting that sort of practice accpted in
the High Integrity Systems market-place, where they insist there is a design
and decent documentation before you get to coding.

I am sue the GA144 stuff would have been interesting to hear but sadly I was
one of those denied hearing his words on that. Did they have any other
cameras on for Chuck's talk that may have recorded his entire talk?

Anyway, now going to watch the special "Sky at Night" on BBC4 in a few
minutes. This is on the Rosetta mission and more about the Philae Lander
(which I didn't hear Chuck mention).

I get to the BBC 4 site and click on the live link to watch
and get this message.

BBC iPlayer TV programmes are available to play in the UK only.
Find out why.

If you are in the UK and see this message please read this advice.

If you have a VPN where you can pop out in the UK then you can watch it.

Apparently ;-)
