After hearing about your tragic incident, I wish you all the best and good recovery. Life is too short and precious to take it for granted and I hope that other colleagues from the Forth community will have similar wishes.

PS: You made it even in the biggest newspapers in Germany and Switzerland, so I fear that the whole world NOW DOES REALLY know your age. But see it in a positive way: This number (age) can still increase ;-)

Here's one summary. "Conklin" is my married name. I confess, I'm long
since sick of being described as "elderly".

Cheers,
Elizabeth

May your recovery become speedier. We all wish you well. I had to go looking
for the news item and am horrified at what transpired. Thanks go to your
neighbour for thwarting further action by that crazy surf girl.

So I stop by c.l.f to see if anybody is talking about Juergen Pintaske's Forth Lite, and I see this!

Elizabeth, I hope you are feeling much better, and I hope you will allow me to stop by and say "Aloha and So Forth" to you the next time I am in Hawaii.

I just found out and I'm appalled. I hope your recovery goes well. Healing is more difficult when you're H# 49, but you're a healthy H# 49.

Jill is kinda hot errrm, but after reading a while on the internet about who she really is I really believe that it's her vanity that makes her a hot mess.

I wish Mrs. Conklin a quick recovery , and umm .. just to say that I think she is a really strong woman from the sound of things, because .. being thrown 20 feet is not something that anyone would ever wish to experience. :) . Be better soon :)

Get real --- a crack-head can't surf, or even ride a skateboard without falling off. She is not a crack-head. Bi-polar, most likely --- but crack addiction is for people who have no goals.

You are not going to find out the truth of what happened if you prefer to make up your own story.

Jill Hansen's goal, actually obsession, was to be accepted into the ASP --- and while she was waiting for the police to arrive, she posted a facebook message congratulating herself on having just been accepted into the ASP.

I think that the truth will eventually come out. This is not like an attack by a thug, that can easily be written off as random violence --- this is a murder attempt by a person with no history of violence, and she said at the crime scene: "My father made me do this; he is a high-powered attorney." --- it is going to get investigated.

The statement "no history of violence" is mistaken. In fact Elizabeth's
assailant was at the time of her attack the defendant in a pending vehicular
assault case, among other things (see newspaper accounts from Hawaii).
Vehicular assault is a deadly force attack and may in our country be
justifiably stopped with deadly force by anyone certain of the prospective
victim's innocence.

So, in fact, the criminal does have a "history of violence" not to mention a
history of attacking others, not with "violent" fists or sharp tongue, but
with deadly weapons, meaning that she has not merely "been violent" but that
she has tried to kill or maim innocent people.

Attacks by thugs are not "random violence" either. They are purposeful and
part of the line of business in which thugs have chosen to engage. Thugs'
attacks (on people who are not competing thugs) are generally directed at
people they recognize as "soft targets", usually based on observation before
the attack is made.

The most important truth of this situation is that this assailant created
the circumstances of immediate, otherwise unavoidable threat of death or
grave bodily harm to the innocent, namely to Elizabeth; and that fortunately
the assailant failed and Elizabeth has survived. As to why Hansen did it,
who cares ... the moment you threaten innocent people you have crossed a
chasm leaving your own right to life on the other side. Hansen is fortunate
that she herself survived this criminal act but nothing ... NOTHING ...
justifies or excuses threatening the innocent with death or grave bodily
harm.

Get real --- a crack-head can't surf, or even ride a skateboard without
falling off. She is not a crack-head. Bi-polar, most likely --- but crack
addiction is for people who have no goals.

You are not going to find out the truth of what happened if you prefer to
make up your own story.

FWIW, to no one's surprise Jill's atty has filed intent to pursue an
insanity defense. So, there'll be at least 6 mos.' psychiatric exams,
challenges, re-exams, etc. Meanwhile, she's in jail with no bail.

I am about 90% recovered, and leaving tomorrow for Iceland, Greenland,
and the Northwest Passage. I win.

Aloha,
Elizabeth

Of course this was a clear sign of insanity what she did.

Great to hear, have a nice trip! And remember: Iceland and Greenland are
called the way they are, because some idiot a long time ago swapped labels
on a map ;-).
