I wanted to review Albert's Yourforth project and did a Google search and lot of links like this one
came up.

http://malwarefixes.com/how-to-remove-yourforth/

Albert were you aware of this malware for Mac OS with the same name as your system?

Or has someone used your Forth to create OS X malware?

I wasn't. Thanks for bringing it to my attention.

It is unlikely that one would use yourforth to
create such a sophisticated malware.
Also yourforth is primarily intended for Linux not PC and OSX.
It is an other matter if criminals were looking for a very
simple Forth to tuck onto a malware system to make it look
legit. That is not totally unthinkable.

With so many programs floating around clashes are inevitable.
There is an advantage. I will probably not receive a court order
to stop using the name, because of registered trademarks.

Is “PC” an OS now?

Shorthand for the W-word.

That is giving the wonderful evil corporation in Redmond too much
credit, is that the only choice if one has a PC? I use Windows 10 but
I'm reaching my limit with all the problems that Windows has, I'm
seriously thinking about dumping Windows.

I have a PC with Mint Linux 18.0, and a virtual Partition with the same
on several computers, they from way back just work fine, I upgrade the
OS, many patches and everything stays working, I can't say the same for
Windows.

My current issues with Windows is that I made a mistake on several key
PCs and signed up for the Insider Versions, then they go an make it that
you have to keep upgrading it or Windows will cease working, but if
you upgrade it the same can happen or you have many bugs.

The current version has some serious problems but my PCs will not
upgrade to the new version, and once it starts trying to upgrade, it's
non-stop download 3GB, say goodbye to your PC for several hours, only to
fail and start doing it again. I figured out how to stop that but, I
have some serious problems with the current version of Windows but I
can't install the latest version either.

I can get off this merry go round once they release the next non-Insider
Version, at that point I can turn off the Insider process but not until
then or the PC will in a couple of month stop booting.

I have one PC that on the attempt to upgrade got corrupted and now will
not boot at all, I'm tempted to make that PC a Linux machine It's a
decent machine for Linux it has an I5 3.4GHz Processor and 8GB of RAM, I
do have an image from way back before I had it joined the Insider merry
go round.

It will take a little bit of time to test all my software and make sure
they run correctly. I've accumulated a lot of paid software over the
years and it's all Windows software.

I came close to flipping away from Windows a couple of years back and I
tested about 70% of my software and they seemed to work fine under Wine,
specially the older software. My main concern is Photoshop, Adobe
LightRoom, and Adobe Elements, I use those quite a bit. I'm also
concerned abut my FPGA software, I've read that it's a bear to install
the Linux version of Lattice Diamond, and Vivado and get it to work.

I could keep a PC or two still running Windows, I bought while on sale 4
120GB SSD drives that I could use to install Mint Linux and still keep
Windows in a multi-boot environment.

But yes I will install Windows on that PC that crashed and burned with
the Windows 10 upgrade this evening, it's one of those tiny HP PCs so
8GB RAM is all it can take, and it only has one HD, before I added an
external USB 1GB external drive for bulk storage.

I hesitate to convert the whole lot, only because I paid a lot of money
for Windows, I have 4 laptops and 13 desktops, I was in the PC business
and I accumulated a lot of gear over the years, all my desktops have
Quad Core CPUs as a minimum, 7 of them are I7 CPUs so that is quite an
investment in Software. I saved some money by buying used HP hardware, I
went on eBay and bought the DVDs from HP to install Windows 7 for free,
then upgraded to Windows 10, still I ended buying quite a few copies of
Windows 7 and Windows 8 for the other CPUs, all were upgraded to Windows 10.

I am running Xubuntu 16.04.
If I need to run a windows program like avrasm2.exe I can use Wine for that.
And I can run various Windows versions in Virtualbox if really needed.
I have a WindowsXP Virtualbox for running some older programs.

I am really happy happy to have Linux as my main operating system !
