Since, apparently Offete can't be reached (phone is out of service), does anyone know where I can obtain a copy of Ting's EForth Implementation Guide?

Some of the Manuals were also available from Ultratechnology, but that is gone also. Also I'm interested in a copy of machineforth, an assembler I believe by Chuck Moore that is simple to modify so it can be easily ported to other CPUs. -- Cecil - k5nwa

I was in that site but didn't find this link so again Thank You. Taking a brief look at it, it's not what some on the Internet claim it was so, yes it's an assembler of sorts but only because the machine its for has Forth primitives as its basic instructions. I will attempt to get a copy that is up to date and written for standard processors it could still be useful for soft FPGA processors whose instruction set is basically Forth. Still I will continue looking for an easy to change assemble or metacompiler, any suggestions would be appreciated. -- Cecil - k5nwa

No idea about MachineForth but the eForth metacompiler is on Bill Muench's site. I'm also interested in seeing Ting's documentation about eForth because I've always liked his writing. However, even though I'm not much of a Forther, I found eForth to be pretty easy to understand by just reading the code directly. It was very educational in that regard.

In any case I'm still looking for the Windows/PC version of machineforth so I can use it as a vehicle to write versions for various FPGA Forth CPUs that do not have available software. You would think that someone on this list has a copy, but no replies so far. -- Cecil - k5nwa

But no, machineforth is the predecessor of colorforth which is radically different. computerforth is a conventional Forth compiler that is stripped down to a bare minimum, it's about 800 lines of code including an assembler/disassembler. machineforth is a minimalist Forth compiler without the fancy color, or with part of the compilation taking place in the editor like colorforth. It is written in Forth for the F21 CPU, but there are copies mentioned of the version mentioned as modified to run in a Windows/DOS environment, that is what I'm looking for without a whole lot of success. Below is a link to a partial description and listing; < http://www.ultratechnology.com/mfp21.htm#source > -- Cecil - k5nwa

So I keep searching for a real copy in case the web site is incomplete. If anyone has a copy I would appreciate a copy of it. -- Cecil - k5nwa

Note that it's about a version of eForth bootstrapped from 8086 assembly language, unlike the original version which was metacompiled. Jeff Fox has a page somewhere discussing this. I found the actual eforth source code to be reasonably easy to understand (unlike cmforth) but the tutorial doc is helpful too.

This document is similar to one that was available for download (they both have the same typo in the table of register names; RP rather than BP). This document is much more extensive though --- this one would actually be useful.
