I remember John Passaniti posting to c.l.f. On his website he has/has an
editor that would provide a good starting as far as I remember.

Sorry I couldn't find the url for you.

Thanks, but I already have a starting editor: https://github.com/Lehs/Simple-editor-in-ANS-Forth

Of course, it would be interesting to see how/if he solved the problems.

Exactly, that is why I gave you the tip.

I still want to do a lisp in Forth, and I've collected a dozen
implementations, some toy, some vintage, some rather powerful yet
simple. There is something to learn from each of those.

You could have a look into the block editor of mina, the msdos version
of ciforth.

Gforth's command-line editor treats both CR (13) and LF (10) as
newline. That's probably a good approach for other editors, too.

Android's enter key event returns 10 on getUnicodeChar, and getKeyCode
gives AKEYCODE_ENTER. The current logic is that if there is an unicode
character in the event, I prefer that, otherwise, I take the keycode
instead; if I do it reverse, I can convert the AKEYCODE_ENTER to the
usual 13.

I agree that it is better to be consistent... so I will simply ignore
what Android thinks the corresponding character is - if there is a
keycode, then I can convert it myself. I'll have to test that with a
number of different soft and hard keyboards, as they all behave slightly
different ;-).

Gforth's own command line editor just handles 10 = 13, and 8 = 127, too.
I'd recommend doing that.
