Why would a big-endian system need this more than a little-endian?

And CRC processing. As long as 8 bits remains useful as a
minimum size for encoding chunks of data, there will be uses
for ><. What's the alternative - shifting bits.

I kind of like, though the the first two remind me more of push and pull. I had been playing with,

  : |<- push ;
  : |-> pull ;
  : <>  swap ;
  : ><  drop ;

Also, nice thing about your first two is that they translate well to Unicode symbols.

  : ▷

For drop, Unicode ⌫ makes some sense, though I find it a bit small.

Or too big depending on the typeface... strange.

This is not productive. Special symbols in math work because in math
a formula is a two dimensional layout.
Forth is one-dimensional. Remember the stress on pronunciation that
makes it possible to communicate a Forth program over the phone?
This of course has to do with the fact that Chuck Moore is vision-
impaired.

Groetjes Albert

(I would hate to have to input unicode symbols in Forth.)
