Matthias was a lot faster than I had expected and finished a Mecrisp Forth for the MicroBit; all is where you normally find Mecrisp - switch on your PC running Linux throw the hex into the microBit folder, start your terminal at 115200 and Paul and I saw yesterday the OK and Words. Enough to check. Thanks Matthias. https://sourceforge.net/projects/mecrisp/ Released /Target literature package for Microbit.tar.gz

I had hoped to demonstrate it at the Maker Fair we go to this Saturday in Bristol http://www.ukesf.org/news/ukesf-joins-digimakers-microbox-project-kit/ Now it will be building up to 50 Forth MicroBoxes running from a serial Interface - which can interface to the standard MicroBit running their languages over the Internet ... This is really strange! Forth targets are using a serial line and need a terminal emulator which could run on Linux or Windows. What's the problem?

Not sure, following Bernd's direction finds a .hex and a .bin file for MicroBit in the distribution. When we installed the NXP ARM Mecrisp target we just used the NXP Windows(r) programming tool, but a free alternative on linux, to upload the image. I think that the MicroBit tool set has image uploader. Linux would be needed to rebuild Mecrisp, but that is not usually the first job when testing a new tool. Perhaps it is all just a communications problem? Jan Coombs

The prices for the units you provide links to are $50 US and $75 US with the Microbit board being the $75 item. I expect they are giving US vs. UK pricing based on my IP address. I think $50 for the kit is not a bad price. $75 for the board is pretty high. If the mistake they made was switching the prices, the £15 board would be $50 and the £25 kit would be $75. This is still pretty high with a 3:1 exchange rate which is more than twice the going rate. Something has gone awry with their currency conversion and/or web site creation. -- Rick C
