I dunno.  An rPi costs some $35 without shipping.  1 GB flash would be 
very little indeed if you can still find them.  I tried to buy some 1 GB 
SD cards last year and everything I got was junk and wouldn't work in my 
GPS.  I suppose it is possible the GPS isn't any good, but they were all 
very wonky even in my computer with sizes ranging from 1 GB to 0.8 GB. 
Mostly they were about $2 with shipping.
