I didn't say it couldn't be done--it just generates messier code, as you
demonstrated.  There are other ways to multitask that can be preferable,
depending on the cpu.

Why should the multitasking words for controllers not follow the same
standard?  It's not as if the standard is going to specify anything
comparably heavyweight to Posix threads.  The GA144 is as "embedded" as
it gets, and Polyforth and Eforth both run on it, though I don't know if
the Eforth port supports multitasking.
