This could be convenient but also sounds rather bug-prone.  Forth
programs I've looked at (of course the language allows other
possibilities) tend to use static memory allocation (VARIABLE etc.) or
else use the stack (counting locals as being on the stack).  So there
aren't likely to be too many dangling pointers.  Returning xt's that
might mess with already-exited stack frames sounds like asking for
trouble.  I don't have much view on the trade-off.
