Gforth has .fs for stream files, .fb for block files (hardly used
these days), and .fi for image files; and the point of image file is
to allow bootstrapping of Gforth and to avoid the overhead of
compiling additional words without hashing (hashing is added only when
gforth.fi is built).  The way I suggest for distributing Forth
programs and libraries is as source code, and I don't see a difference
between programs to be compiled and programs to be interpreted, and
there are no two file extensions used in Gforth for that.
