Very informative.

I think you mean this one:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/C_(programming_language)

I would like to link some pdfs about the C Programming language
first edition but I never know if it is legal or not.

I don't have links, but a few good sources to search for are
The Unix Manual vol.2 which is full of articles about C, porting
to other machines, early unix utilities written in C, and more.
And the Bell Labs Technical Journal issue about C from around 1980.

bitsavers probably has these and more.

Drrn. Ought to have dug up links first. This is what I said,

http://bitsavers.trailing-edge.com/pdf/att/unix/System_V_Release_2/UNIX_Programmers_Manual_Vol_2_System_Calls_and_Library_Routines_1986.pdf

but I said the wrong thing. I forget which volume or edition. But one of the later
editions from I guess (aware of having recently guessed wrong) '85 (or 6) ... ish? ...
had a one volume of papers that covered this material but were not available elsewhere.

continuing to search...

(
This is a side comment, not on this subject.

It is very interesting to see (and Unix is a good sample
of that) how well C can scale. From simple concepts, piece by piece
one big system can be created without losing
control about the complexity because the recipe of doing it,
and documenting it for instance, scales very well.

I've posted a link to that before.

Of interest then were the compilation speeds of a set of test compilers
in the articles comparing C compilers, especially for Z80 (build times
up to 8 minutes even for those small benchmarks).

One of several reasons why I couldn't use C at the time.

Yes, I am trying to put links together.

- pcc history
"he compiler is based on the original Portable C Compiler by
Stephen C. Johnson, written in the late 70's"

http://pcc.ludd.ltu.se/pcc_history/

I think this compiler works as archaeology of the first
compilers.

The "Rationale for C99" document

     http://www.open-std.org/jtc1/sc22/wg14/www/C99RationaleV5.10.pdf

contains considerable amount of information pertinent to the original
C89/90 standard as well, i.e. provides rationale for the decisions made
when C was standardized for the first time.

And the ANSI C Rationale (C89) is at
    https://www.lysator.liu.se/c/rat/title.html
It's not available as a PDF document as far as I know.

(Wasn't there supposed to be a C11 Rationale document?)
