The only practical measure is to ignore him until he
makes a post which may be considered a contribution,
i.e. answers somebody's question or gives some good,
non-trivial, advice. Unfortunately, someone will
allways pop up who can't leave his one-liners unan-
swered. I ain't replying to none of his noise
starting now, both here and in another newsgroup he
has infested.

Keith might have died but you are right to say that religious Rick and
Chang has destroyed this and C++ newsgroups.

There is no way to get it back tom real business until these two
protagonists die.

Even a Real Troll has restrained to spam these newsgroups!!!!!!!!!!!!.

I share your diagnosis, I have not been here for quite some years and I
am surprised about the level of noise in this group. For me this is a
group where I would like to pose technical questions about C programming
and discuss corresponding questions posed by others.

When I have been here last time there was quite a simple receipt how to
deal with noise; it worked rather well:

Don't feed the troll!

It is not really surprising that some people, i.e. the "trolls", try to
enforce their own topics on others. I believe this is inevitable
because it is an unwarranted side effect of the freedom here, which is
more important to me than some notion of enforced purity. What is
actually surprising me is that seemingly reasonable people engage in
troll-threads, even if only to express their disgust or make fun of the
troll.

If the more reasonable people would stop doing so, I could imagine that
the level of noise would reduce to bearable levels.

cheers,

Andreas

The trolling doesn't surprise me (in fact, I like it). Otherwise, things
would be boring around here.

But what gets me is how Keith just seems to have completely lost his grip.
Why isn't he policing things? Has he lost his mojo?

I.e., the real fun in CLC always was the constant battle between Keith and
the forces of good. It was the conflict that made things interesting.
