I have been posting here for years yes, about my work with my compiler
system lcc-win, and about many subjects concerning the C language: for
instance the fat that C has ceased to follow the hardware closely and
some people suggest it is not a "low level" language.

The fact that sombody that's not GNU or affiliated with any big
organization has been able to keep and develop a reasonable fast
compiler system is a needle in the eye of many people, specially gnu
people, I never understood why.

Most of the people that have been insulting me since years are anonymous
cowards like you.

Unable to argument, unable to say anything of value, they limit
themselves to what they can do: spray insults from the "safety" of their
anonymity, internet allows them to do so.

I have always posted with my full name, I do not need to hide myself
behind some pseudo because, precisely, I am not "trolling" nor insulting
anyone.

FWIW, Jacob, I think your effort is impressive and desirable. I
was under the impression you wrote it from scratch, but I believe
I later read you inherited a project that had prior beginnings,
but you have been maintaining it for 20?? years?

I've always been impressed with lcc-win.

That one is easy to explain. Whenever anyone opens their mouth to
mention "gcc", you ram your fingers down their throat and then cry that
they tried to bite you.

And whenever someone says they like one of your ideas, or think it is
impressive that you are an independent compiler maker, you put your
fingers in your ears and ignore them - they spoil your martyr image.

> Most of the people that have been insulting me since years are anonymous
> cowards like you.

Most of the people insulting you are not "anonymous cowards" - they are
purely imaginary. You scan posts looking for the merest hint of
something that could be taken as offensive, and consider that as "proof"
that the world - led by gcc users - is dedicated to your downfall.

You troll and insult /me/ when I try to help you or give you
suggestions. You do the same to many others.

Once you have grown up enough to understand that people can be impressed
with what you have achieved, want to encourage you and help you, and yet
still like and use gcc - then you will be able to have sensible
conversations on Usenet.

Mr Brown:

I answered your arguments in this thread politely, and addressed your
technnical points. Nowhere there is a single hint of personal attacks.

This is just not true.

Perhaps you are not aware of how you write, and how it can be
interpreted. If that is the case, then I will try to point out some
samples to try to make it clearer.

In discussing possible syntax for vectors, I showed gcc's format - and
made it abundantly clear that I thought it was not as clear as it could
be. But the format you proposed had too many limitations - ugly but
working is better than too limited. You responded by repeating your
solution and asking rhetorically what is wrong with it - answering
sarcastically "Ahh I know. It's not gcc". I explained what I thought
was the problem with your approach and syntax, but you ignored that -
you dismiss my points because you read my post as "Gcc good. Not gcc
bad". Later you say "But you do not want to understand what I am
proposing since it is not gcc" - dismissive and insulting. If I have
failed to understand what you propose (and in a technical discussion, a
failure to understand all details is expected) it is because we have
misunderstood each other, or worded things unclearly, or made different
assumptions. It is /not/ "because it is not gcc".

This sort of thing goes on again and again - you repeatedly tell me (and
others) how we are fighting against you, how we are blinded by gcc, how
we are gcc fanboys trying to help it take over the compiler world.

It gets to the point where it feels personal - even if that was not your
intention. When I make technical posts intended to help or support you,
it is dismissed as gcc propaganda (or sometimes C++ propaganda - you
seem to lump C++ with gcc as the two pillars of evil hindering your C
compiler). This happens almost regardless of what I write, but
especially if I try to include gcc extensions as an alternative to your
own suggestions. You judge me as someone who fawns over gcc and
promotes the tool and syntax without thought, when I actually give the
information for reference or comparison, and regularly say what I think
is good or bad about it.

Nowhere I said you were "trolling" or got into personal attacks.

Yes, I implied that you have an habit to always propose the gcc's
solutions, I even said that my proposal was dismissied by you because
"it's not gcc" but NOWHERE my messages contained any kind of personal
attack.

You must distinguish between some sarcastic tone that (I understand that
perfectly) can be bothering to you, and insults accusations of trolling etc.
