There's been a lot of code posted, all of which seemed to be using
pointers, so just for shits I'll post one that uses indexes:
i = strlen(s);
while (i > 0 && s[i-1] == ' ') i--;
s2 = malloc(i+1);
memcpy(s2, s, i);
s2[i] = 0;
